Historical & Religiously significant town of Kalanaur to be developed as tourism hub at a cost of Rs. 7 Crore 

Minister initiates beautification of Pracheen Shiv Mandir at a cost of Rs. 2.50 crore 

Kalanaur/Gurdaspur, June 15:”The historically and religiously significant town of Kalanaur would would rule the roost as a hub of tourism for which Rs. 7 crore would be spent. As part of the project, the beautification work of Pracheen Shiv Mandir commenced today which would see completion at a cost of Rs. 2.50 Crore.” This was disclosed by the Cabinet Minister, Punjab, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa while interacting with the mediapersons.

The minister further said that there would be no dearth of development centric works when it comes to the town of Kalanaur and  development oriented projects with regard to the town, would commence in a phasewise manner. These would include elegant parking, approach road, land scaping and public conveniences. He also added that the next course of action would be to start works regarding approach road, public conveniences and parking to develop Gurudwara Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and a cost of Rs. 2.50 Crores besides developing Takht e Akbar as a tourist spot through various beautifying works. 

S. Randhawa further elaborated that the Punjab Government has undertaken the Mission Fateh campaign with the main motive being raising awareness among the public to protect themselves from the corona virus by exhorting them to wear masks, maintaining social distance and washing hands as often as possible. These joint efforts by the people would lead to victory against the corona virus pandemic. 

Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included the ADC (General) Tejinderpal Singh Sandhu, Assistant Commissioner (General) Raman Kochhar, Tehsildar Arvinder Salwan, BDPO Gurjit Singh, Project Manager (Tourism) Prem Chand, Sanjeev Kumar Aggarwal Bright Way Contractor and President Shiv Mandir Committee Amarjit Khullav.
