(Bikram S Majithia and Dr Daljit S Cheema ask youth whose rights have been usurped by Cong leaders to gherao CM and ministers)
(Say corruption had been legalized by the State cabinet which doled out jobs on compassionate grounds to ineligible candidates)
(Says SAD-BSP alliance will quash all illegal appointments done on compassionate grounds and register cases against those responsible for the wrongdoing)
Chandigarh, June 19 – The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today urged Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore to take suo moto notice of the manner in which chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh was purchasing the loyalty of Congress legislators to save his chair by doling out jobs to their wards illegally and dismiss the Congress government immediately. It also asked youth whose rights had been usurped by Congress leaders to ‘gherao’ the chief minister and ministers to demand jobs for deserving and meritorious students.
Addressing a press conference on this issue, senior SAD leaders Bikram Singh Majithia and Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said the Governor should take note of the manner in which the State cabinet had legalized corruption by doling out jobs to wards of Congressmen on compassionate grounds even though they were not eligible for the same. The leaders said in case the Governor did not take action in the matter, the President should take note of the unconstitutional appointments and dismiss the Capt Amarinder Singh government immediately. They also announced that in case no action was taken in the matter, the SAD-BSP alliance would quash all illegal appointments made on compassionate grounds and also register cases against those responsible for the wrongdoing.
Giving details, Mr Bikram Majithia said it was condemnable that Capt Amarinder had taken a holy oath to provide jobs to each and every household and even got forms filled by the youth in this regard. “However jobs have only given to ‘crorepati’ Congressmen be it the family of former chief minister Beant Singh whose grandson was recruited as a DSP, wards of Congress mlas Fatehjang Bajwa and Rakesh Pandey who have been appointed as Inspector and Naib Tehsildar respectively and son in law of cabinet minister Gurpreet Kangar who was given out of turn appointment as an Assistant ETO”. He said in direct contrast the government had refused to give government jobs as promised to kin of 2,000 farmer suicide victims, 500 Kisan Andolan martyrs or even para Olympians. “Even thousands of contractual employees are still awaiting regularization of their services as promised to them”.
Speaking about the appointments of the wards of Congress mlas by the cabinet yesterday, the SAD leaders said both candidates were not eligible for jobs under compassionate grounds. He said both candidates were grandsons of Congress leaders and had been given jobs after 34 years which the cabinet could not do. He said similarly they were not qualified for the jobs on basis of financial need also. “Fatehjang Bajwa has filed an affidavit before the Election Commission pegging his worth at Rs 35 crore even though it’s actually much more. Similarly Mr Rakesh Pandey is a six time legislator and earns lakhs of rupees in pension alone”.
Stating that the entire case smacked on corruption, Mr Majithia and Dr Cheema said Pradesh Congress President Sunil Jakhar as well as Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should tell why they were silent on the issue and had not censured the chief minister till now. “The ghar ghar naukari scheme has been turned into ‘har vidhyak ghar naukari’ scheme in Punjab. Even a cabinet minister – Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa has given a statement saying that the ward of mla Fatehjang Bajwa rides a car worth Rs three crore. Such acts have only served to sprinkle salt on the wounds of the youth of the State. The SAD will not let this injustice prevail. We will do everything in our power to get these illegal, unconstitutional and unethical decisions which smack of horse trading reversed”.
Mr Majithia meanwhile while expressing his condolences at the passing away of Flying Sikh Milkha Singh, said the Punjab government as well as the union government should establish a Sports academy in his memory. “This will be a befitting tribute to the legend and inspire our youth to follow in his footsteps”, he added.
