Vigilance registers bribery case against two constables, two private persons

Arrests one Constable & a private person red handed

Chandigarh, November 6: State Vigilance Bureau, today registered bribery case against Sarbjit Singh and Iqbal Singh (Both constables) and two private persons Jaspreet Singh and Simranjit Singh for demanding and accepting money from a person by threatening him to register a police. In this the Vigilance team from Moga has nabbed one constable and a private person red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 15,000.

 Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) said both the accused have been arrested on the complaint of Gagandeep Singh of village Hariye Wala, Moga district. The complainant has informed the VB that he is a mini bus operator and the accused police officials were threatening and demanding bribe of Rs. one lakh from him for not registering a police case involving him in a drug case and the deal was struck at Rs. 50,000.

 After verifying his information, a vigilance team laid a trap and the accused constable Iqbal Singh and his accomplice Simranjit Singh, a private person, were arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs. 15,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

 He informed that a bribery case under different sections of prevention of corruption act has been registered against all the above mentioned four accused at VB police station, Ferozepur and further investigation is under progress.
