“The Ludhiana Basketball Academy groomed me as a player and later my selection at the NBA Global academy in Australia (in 2018) helped me to prepare for the bigger leagues,” said Princepal.
Gurdaspur based Princepal Singh , a six feet 10 inch tall nineteen year old boy, is the new poster boy of Indian basketball as he has been selected to play in the NBA G-league, the National Basketball Association’s official minor league in 2020-21. He will train and compete alongside the new G League team featuring elite youth prospects.
Princepal, who hails from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur was introduced to the game of basketball just 5 years back. Since then he has continuously worked to one day play in the main NBA league. He terms this milestone as platform for him to reach the biggest sports league (NBA) someday.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer Princepal the opportunity to begin his professional basketball journey in the NBA G-league,” said Shareef Abdur-Rahim, league president, on Tuesday.
