Gurdaspur, 4 June:- Former President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee and Rajya Member Partap Singh Bajwa train his guns over Vaccine Policy given to private hospitals in Punjab on the cost of Rs 1060 per dose. He stated that the policy is absolutely uncalled for especially in the middle of the second wave and demand an inquiry by the chief minister. In this regard, Bajwa wrote a letter to the chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his letter he said that he wish to bring to your kind attention the recent sale of 40,000 doses of COVAXIN vaccines to private hospitals at Rs. 1,060 a dose. This sale was confirmed by Punjab\u2019s Nodal Officer for vaccination, Sh. Vikas Garg according to various news sources. He called that the This policy is absolutely uncalled for especially in the middle of this second wave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bajwa quoted that there is a shortage of vaccines across the country and even more so in the State of Punjab. The Government of Punjab received 1.14 lakh doses of COVAXIN on May 27 after the stock of COVISHIELD in the State was exhausted. Given the low numbers of people being vaccinated across the nation, the focus of the State Government should have been to use these doses to vaccinate the masses. By looking to profit by selling over 1\/3rd of the received doses to private hospitals, the Government of Punjab has in effect failed in its duty to the people of Punjab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He strongly raised his gun over government by asking that the State Government has made a profit of Rs. 2,64,00,000 through these sales and What was the purpose of this profit? Furthermore, the private hospitals have fixed a price of Rs. 1,560 a dose.<\/strong> It is extremely distressing that in the middle of the pandemic there are those who wish to make money instead of protecting the health of the people.
